SPPOAC, the State Park Peace Officers Association of California, is the professional organization that communicates the needs and wishes of the rank and file peace officer employees of the California Department of Parks and Recreation to CAUSE, California Union of Safety Employees.

CAUSE is the "exclusive negotiating agent for all employees in the Protective Services and Public Safety Unit 7." State Park Rangers and Lifeguards can be members of CAUSE in two ways: 1) fair share members and 2) SPPOAC members. CAUSE not only represents Park Rangers and Lifeguards but also members of the California Department of Justice, the Department of Fish and Game, Department of Consumer Affairs, Franchise Tax Board and Department of Health Services. Without SPPOAC, Park Rangers and Lifeguards would not have an efficient and effective way of communicating their needs to CAUSE.

Fair Share members are not members of SPPOAC and do not have an effective means of communicating to CAUSE. SPPOAC members, on the other hand, have a dedicated team of Park Rangers and Lifeguards working hard with CAUSE.
